Punjab’s Another Young Star, Ashutosh steps Up In a Big Game.

Ashutosh Sharma came on the field against Mumbai when Punjab’s score was 77/6. Then he came and played the brilliant innings of 61 runs with a strike rate of 217.86. Punjab Kings finisher Ashutosh Sharma has created havoc with his bat in the last few matches of IPL 2024. Even on the night of Thursday 18th April, he played a brilliant innings against Mumbai Indians. However, he could not make his team win the match. Ashutosh played a brilliant inning of 61 runs against Mumbai with the help of 2 fours and 7 skyscraper sixes in just 28 balls. Ashutosh did not even spare Jasprit Bumrah during this innings. As long as he remained at the crease, he kept Mumbai at bay. After seeing this amazing performance by Ashutosh, fans are very curious to know about him.

Ashutosh’s Early Cricket Life

Ashutosh Sharma is a resident of Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.  He plays domestic cricket for Railways. Before Railways, he used to play for his state. So far he has scored 4 first class, 7 list A and 16 T20 matches: 268, 56 and 450 runs. Last year, he broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of scoring a half-century on 11 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. 

Ashutosh played an innings of 53 runs on 12 balls against Arunachal Pradesh, during which he hit 1 four and 8 gigantic sixes.  In the IPL 2024 auction, Punjab Kings had bought Ashutosh Sharma for the base price of Rs 20 lakh. 

Ashutosh’s Performance in IPL 2024 till now 

Ashutosh made his debut in IPL in the match against Gujarat Titans in which he played a crucial and quick-knock of 31 runs off just 17 balls. He played his first match as an impact player and this innings of 31 helped Punjab a lot to register a win against Gujarat Titans. His second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad was yet another amazing one in which he stayed till last and Punjab’s hope was still alive. He played an exceptional knock of 33 runs in 15 balls but this exceptional knock ended up in the losing side as SRH won by just 2 runs against PBKS. In the third match against Rajasthan Royals, he again continued his blitz-knock form and smashed 31 runs in 16 balls including 3 sixes and a four. The match against Mumbai Indians was his fourth one. This young player has scored a total of 156 runs facing 76 deliveries. 

Punjab rely on Ashutosh and Shashank for either getting a good end to their first innings or to chase down a good target at the end. Shashank singh was considered as a mistake for Punjab now is doing miracles for them. Both of these uncapped Indian Batsmen are scoring for their team consistently and also with a blasting strike rate.
