Ranbir recalled the day when the doctors told him that Rishi Kapoor could pass away any time. He had a panic attack on hearing this. In contrast, Ranbir neither cried nor felt the absence of his father after Rishi Kapoor’s demise.
According to the information, Rishi Kapoor died of cancer on 30 April 2022.
Ranbir did not cry on his father’s death
Talking to Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir said- I had stopped crying a long time ago. I did not cry even after Papa passed away. One night when I was in the hospital, the doctor said- This is his (Rishi Kapoor) last night. He can go anytime.
I remember very well that I had a panic attack as soon as I entered the room. I could not understand how to express my feelings. There was a lot going on at that time, which had to be managed. But I don’t think I mourned or missed him.
‘One day papa came to me and started crying…’
Ranbir said- “We spent a year together during Papa’s treatment in New York. He used to talk about it often. I was there for 45 days. One day papa came to me and started crying. He had never shown such weakness in front of me. All this was very strange for me. I didn’t know if I should hold him or hug him. I really felt the distance. “
I feel guilty that I couldn’t bridge the distance between us and that I couldn’t hug her and give her affection.
Ranbir said- You are brought up in such a way that you are made to feel responsible. Many things were going on in my mind. I have a mother, sister, wife and daughter and my father is no more. Can I show my weakness? I don’t know what it is, but I don’t want to show it.
