Shashank becomes ‘Miracle’ from ‘Mistake’ for Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings registered a famous 3 wicket-win after a dramatic last over against Gujarat Titans. Chasing a massive target of 200 against gujarat in their homeground, Punjab were too far as the score was only 70/4 after 8.4 overs. Situations were too tough when Shashank Singh came to bat at no.5, as the required run-rate was nearing 12 per over. 

Shashank’s brilliant knock of 61 off 29 with a strike-rate of 210.34, helped Punjab to register their second win of this season. Shashank singh struck 6 fours and 4 sixes in his devastating knock of 61 runs. Initially, when he came to bat, he held a good partnership with Sikandar Raza and later on finished the game with the help of the impact player Ashutosh Sharma. Ashutosh Sharma played a crucial role in Punjab’s win on his debut and scored a blitz knock of 31 off just 17 balls.  

Before the start of IPL, at the Auction, Punjab went for the wrong Shashank because of the confusion of two same player’s names in the pool.  After the realisation of bringing the wrong player, Punjab Kings owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia wanted to withdraw their bid but were prohibited by the auctioneer. After this, Punjab Kings also shared a message on their Twitter about the confusion. Shashank Singh was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad before the 2023 auction. At the auction no team showed any interest in bringing this player to their team. 

Gujarat lost their first match at their homeground (Narendra Modi Stadium) after the loss against Chennai at MA Chidambaram Stadium and Punjab registered their first win outside the home on Thursday. Shubhman GIll’s beautiful knock of 89 off 48 deliveries eventually went in vain. It was a tough day for Gujarat’s captain as the fielders didn’t grab the opportunities made by the bowlers in the match. Lots of chances were created by the bowlers but the fielders didn’t help the bowlers too much, which was expected.
